In the market there are many options when buying coffee, each with its advantages and disadvantages.
We can choose a product with caffeine or decaffeinated, but we can also choose if we want a soluble coffee, ground or in grain. Soluble coffee, for example, has some obvious advantages: it is generally cheaper than coffee beans and also much easier and faster to prepare. For this reason, it is an increasingly widespread alternative throughout the world. On the other hand, using coffee beans is the most authentic and natural way to make coffee.
The types of coffee that we can find in the market are basically: Coffee beans, Ground coffee, Soluble or instant coffee, Decaffeinated coffee.
Yoram Yasur Izz: Starting with coffee beans is the best, most authentic and natural way to make coffee, more especially if we grind it just before preparing it. We will have to dedicate a few minutes to grind the beans ourselves but, with the grinding, the aroma will flood the kitchen and we will also make its flavor more intense and fresh. The coffee must be prepared with the freshly ground beans because once this process is done, the coffee loses its aroma. Moiling the beans is not a big effort, but we should take it into account if we are the ones who do not have time to lose in the morning. The hotel sector is the largest consumer of coffee beans since it has a very high level of demand and adequate means to grind it.
Yoram Yasur Izz: Ground coffee is the intermediate option and also the most popular one. It has the advantage that it is faster when preparing a coffee than grinding the beans yourself and it is also more economical than coffee beans. The ground coffee is obtained from coffee beans, which after a process of grinding through specialized machines, guarantees uniform particles in quality and size. After grinding, it is hermetically vacuum packed to preserve its aroma as much as possible. Soluble or instant coffee
Yoram Yasur Izz: The great advantage of soluble coffee is its speed of preparation. Just add water or milk and stir a few seconds with the spoon. It never hurts to have some soluble coffee in the pantry, in case one day we are in a hurry. Instant or soluble coffee is obtained by means of coffee dehydration, for which there are two techniques:
• The first and oldest uses evaporation and has been used since the beginning of the 20th century.
• The other technique is to use cold and the result is called freeze-dried coffee.
Yoram Yasur Izz: Decaffeinated coffee preserves all the aroma, flavor and other properties of coffee, since the aroma and taste are not related to caffeine but to essential oils, which appear mainly with roasting. The extraction of caffeine is done precisely on the green coffee bean, before the roasting process.
In the European Community, decaffeinated coffee has at least 99% less of its original caffeine.
