Yoram Yasur Izz: Decoration with textures
I’m used to hearing that to decorate the most important thing are the colors we use. Such a statement prevents us from realizing the importance of the textures that are so present in the spaces, and that cause sensations that are perceived by the senses. Let’s see, then, the importance of decoration with textures.
- Types of textures
Yoram Yasur Izz: There are tactile textures but also visual textures so that a surface can be more or less rough or totally smooth to the touch. However, between prints there may be more or less cohesion between the reasons allowing in greater and lesser measure to determine the form that originates it and therefore (if it is constant) it is considered texture. In the latter case, it is always considered that an X number of times in space is generated from a repeated visual motive.
- Use of textures to decorate
As a result, the use of textures is an important part of interior decoration and greatly enriches them. There are different tendencies some to use them within the same color changing with the use of baseboards, upholstery and veneers. In some very large spaces are very helpful because they allow the sense of amplitude is reduced especially if they are applied on large surfaces.
Yoram Yasur Izz: The decoration of interiors, at the moment (observing it always from my optics of interiority) points by the tendency to the detail and is there where the textures come to the light. In monochromatic spaces, tactile textures are used to differentiate areas creating shadow effects between planes for which there are both surface finishes and papers that have already been created. The contrasts are an essential part in a good interior design, and these are not only in large plans, but also applied to elements of decoration such as paintings, carpets, flooring, etc. Even at wet environments like SPA’s or bathrooms a nice ocean texture could bring different sensations.
- Textures and decorative styles
Yoram Yasur Izz: Some of the decorative styles that most use them are the rustic style and others that allude in detail to antiques. In these cases, natural textures are the most used, but in modern buildings they are also an important part of design. Such is the case of concrete terminations combined with polished metals, crystals and other surfaces that create contrasts that provide greater interest to the solutions.
Yoram Yasur Izz: The spaces could then be much more interesting if we thought about the detail and how to take better advantage of the details and textures in the decoration. And you, have you tried decorating walls with textures?
