Yoram Yasur Izz | In Mexico, there are some things that you should avoid and today we tell you some of them!

– Believing that something is not spicy:

One of the most common mistakes is to believe that something is not spicy in Mexican food, so we have a trick to not go through this horrible experience: Ask if it has “Chile”! If the answer is “No chile”, you can eat calm and without fear. If you answer “Yes, it has Chile”, do not try it, do not look at it and do not breathe close.

Never ask if it is spicy because the answer is probably “No, it is not” and you end up regretting having ordered extra sauce or a giant dish. Mexicans are accustomed to huge amounts of spice that a normal person does not tolerate, that is, it may literally “not be spicy” for them, so it is best to avoid it if you do not want to end up crying and drinking 3 liters of water in less than 2 minutes.

– Never underestimate the power of tequila. Or the mezcal:

These drinks are not any drink. This is not water, wine, or beer: these drinks deserve respect, yes, respect. It is preferable that you measure with your shots or your bottles because you do not want to end the other day repenting of the decisions of the previous night. Believe us, we know what we tell you and we prefer that you enjoy it so that you repent.

– Do not come asking where the donkey station is:

Mexico is a developed city that has been eclipsed by the stereotypes that exist of it in the world. No, people do not ride in a donkey, no, they do not wear ponchos either in winter, no, no hat and no, not everyone has a mustache.

– Do not be intimidated by the Mexican warmth:

Mexico is known for its warm and friendly atmosphere. Many tourists are accustomed to behaving coldly.  In Mexico are all friends. They are all family! And everyone, everyone is intense.

– Mexicans are very shared, do not leave your things anywhere:

That’s right, they might think you want to share them and surprise you when you look for them and they are gone.

– Do not miss the charm of local food:

“Fast food chains restaurants you will find everywhere, but authentic Mexican food, that is not found everywhere. Do not underestimate it, it will enchant your palate and completely steal your heart. One of the best ways to find delicious food is to ask local people about the best places, but you definitely can’t miss the typical local food. It will fascinate you”.

– Do not drink tap water:

Although many are accustomed in their home country to drinking water directly from the tap, we do not recommend that you do it in Mexico, unless there is a sign that says it is completely safe. It is better to buy bottled water or beer.

– Do not wait until the last moment to get sun block:

If you want an enviable tan, there are sunscreens with Sun Protection Factor that will allow you without hurting your skin. We suggest you wear sunscreen before going out and re-apply it several times, unless you want to look like a flamingo walking, end up with burning skin or changing 8 shades of skin color.

– Do not take the first option. Never:

Whether it’s to take a tour, buy a craft bag or eat at a restaurant, do not feel compromised to stick with the first choice. Yoram Yasur Izz: “Although sellers become your best friends and are attentive to you, you should not feel obligated, since often the second or third option offer you better prices or more variety”.
